Dr Arvind Sahu completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from India in 2006. His academic achievements during his graduation included honours in Anatomy and Gold medal in Surgery. He then proceeded to complete his Doctor of Medicine MD (Internal Medicine) in 2011. He got his specialist training in Adult & Paediatric Medical Oncology & Malignant Haematology from Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai, India which is one of the largest and high volume cancer centres in Asia. He got his Doctorate in Medicine (Medical Oncology) in 2015 from Tata Memorial Centre. He then worked as a Medical Oncologist in a community based cancer centres in regional India for 2 years.
He moved to Melbourne in 2017 as clinical research fellow at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Melbourne where he gained further experience in Phase 1 clinical trials, GI, Breast & Lung cancers. He was then inducted to The Royal Australian College of Physicians as fellow in 2018 after his fellow year at PeterMac.
He has got public appointment at the Goulburn Valley Health, where he is the Medical Oncology Advanced Trainee Supervisor and is also actively involved with undergraduate medical education as an Honorary Clinical Lecturer in the discipline of Medicine at Department of Rural Health, University of Melbourne.He is actively involved in research and clinical trials and is a principal investigator in a few major trials in solid tumours. He has multiple publications in many peer-reviewed national and international journals/conferences.
He is fully committed to providing his patients with high quality, evidence-based care that is focused on their needs. He firmly believes in providing comprehensive care to his patients rather than just treating their cancer. He is a caring clinician who believes in providing holistic care addressing each and every aspect of his patients and their families. His particular clinical interests include GI malignancies (colorectal cancer, hepatobiliary and upper GI cancers), breast cancer, gynaecological cancers and lung cancer.
